CBRSD follows the Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Curriculum Frameworks. Our primary resource in grades K-5 are the FOSS Science Kits. This program emphasizes an inquiry-based approach and employs authentic scientific investigative practices. Additionally, an area of focus K-5 is integrating nonfiction literacy instruction as part of student supported research-based practices. As a result, we have recently acquired book sets and single copies of books that support the Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Frameworks as well as topics of interest.

Students at Becket Washington attend the Becket Outdoor Center (BOC) 5-6 times during the year to participate in an enriching place-based environmental science program. Four Winds Nature Institute (VT) provides state-of-the- art professional development to counselors at the outdoor center to ensure curriculum alignment. As a result, Becket Washington students experience authentic, real time science lessons at the Becket Outdoor Center. This partnership is just one example of the strength of our community relationships.
